Luczo Collection Comes in Strong

STRONG!?,

Well, that truly rang home with the results of the Luczo Family Collection coming out of Deutscher and Hackett recently.

I mentioned when I previewed the collection mid-October, that there is always good buying if the example of the artist’s work is at its best, this is exactly the case for a many of the works in this collection.

I must admit, I was concerned with some of the estimates from the auction house on a few of the pieces, I feel they didn’t reflect the quality of the works at hand.
One of the great outcomes, I feel, is that this is just what the Aboriginal Market needed, a good kick to really allow momentum to build towards achieving a great result and it achieved just that.

Below are some of the standouts..

Jan Billycan (Djan Namundie) – est: $15,000 – $20,000 / Sold for $39,040.00

Daniel Walbidi – est: $18,000 – $25,000 / Sold for $47,580.00

Rover Thomas (Joolama) – est: $300,000 – $400,000 / Sold for $366,000.00

Warlimpirringa Tjapaltjarri – est: $4,000 – $6,000 / Sold for $20,740.00

Naata Nungurrayi – est: $80,000 – $120,000 / Sold for $146,000.00

Bill Whiskey Tjapaltjarri – est: $25,000 – $35,000 / Sold for $40,260.00

Ngoia Pollard Napaltjarri – est: $10,000 – $12,000 / Sold for $20,740.00

Fantastic results for beautiful examples of the artists work.

As I always say, try to buy the best example of the artist you like that fits in with your budget and your collective goals.
