Welcome Ben Tankard

Anala Art Advisory would like to introduce you to Ben Tankard.

I had the pleasure of spending some time at Ben’s studio in the Blue Mountains, west of Sydney.

Using Acrylic on Canvas, Ben is able to take the viewer back in time with his visually stunning and vibrant interpretations of classic paper back novels.

The paintings are distorted representations of the covers, transformed with thick brushstrokes and often random lettering, retaining the essence of the original but also becoming something new.

Ben is interested in how people respond to what they cannot understand, or are unprepared for.

Former director of the Art Gallery of NSW, Edmund Capon, said of ‘Unpopular Penguin’, ” an evocative imagining of the familiar Penguin Paperback…it was a painting we all liked very much for its rich texture, its sense of memory and it’s sort of nostalgic humour”

Ben Paints in acrylics and oils, on canvas and board. Inspired by Rick Amor, Mark Tansey, Nicholas Harding, Robert Hannaford, Paco Pomet and many others.

Anala Art Advisory looks forward to all enquiries about Ben’s unique work.

Please find Ben’s C.V below.
