Anala Art Advisory had a great night at the preview of the Deutscher and Hackett August Show.
Works by Tim Storrier, Rosalie Gascoigne, Brett Whitley and Ben Quilty, to name a few, were on display at the Oxford Street gallery. A portion of the works for Wednesday’s auction has been named the “1st Capsule Collection Sale” courtesy of Gene and Brian Sherman.
The decision to part with these important works is their desire to continue their long standing support of emerging Australian and Asian artists with the intention of continuing to support education in the arts. A particular piece that is up for auction is the Damian Hurst photogravure etching on paper, “I once was what you are”.
Anala Art Advisory will be keeping a very close eye on this work, its has estimates of only $8k – $12k, which will cause major bidding on the night. Of course the rock star of the night is the Jeffrey Smart piece “The Caravan Park”.
With estimates of $650k – $850k and painted in 2007, this painting contains all the elements of Smart’s best work in a composition of classical geometry and romantic mystery. Caravan Park contains the best of his work – the fine draughtsmanship, elegant colour sense, sure hand and sense of mystery that has made him one of the most loved and collected artists of his generation.
Anala Art Advisory is looking forward to the auction night, Wednesday 26th of August, stay tuned for results.
